Leaders are often required to make decisions
based on only 40 to 60 percent of the information they need. Followers
require 99%.
There are three kinds of people in this world:
1. Those who make things happen.
2. Those who watch things happen
3. Those who wonder, "what the hell just happened?"
What category do you see yourself in?
Most people find themselves in the second or third category, because they
lack direction in life.
They don't know who they are, what they want, or how to get it.
Procrastination sets in. And procrastination can take on many forms:
Watching TV
Hanging out with friends
Laying on the couch
Talking on the phone
Playing video games
Fear
Anxiety
etc.
Getting started is the hardest thing to do.
It's hard because you have managed to develop some bad habits. Habits which
now have become your belief system, your lifestyle, your character.
In essences: YOU.
What's worse, is that these habits have also given you a sense of security,
familiarity, and warmth. And venturing into uncharted waters can be very
frightening.
It is the fear of the unknown. Fear of failure. Fear of not knowing all the
answers.
However, if you can turn that fear into excitement, unlimited possibilities,
and opportunities, only then can you grow, and feel more alive than ever
before.
Any new venture can mean growth in your abilities and potential.
"So, where do I begin?" you might be asking yourself.
Get to know yourself. Define yourself.
And if that sounds hard or the thought of getting to know yourself is
confusing simply jot down some of your achievements, and list the things you
do well and use your notes about yourself to create a positive vision of
YOU.
In addition, you can ask your friends, family and associates,
"What am I good at?" Or, "How would you describe the things that I am good
at doing?"
Once you know who you are and the person you were meant to be, you now have
direction and you can take a stand.
With direction comes action, courage, commitment, and a passion that nobody
can take away.
You begin to understand what is and what is not important to you. It will
drive you towards what you want or away from it.
Will it be easy? No.
Start slow and begin with small steps. Small victories, lead to bigger
victories.
"But I don't want to sacrifice some of the things I enjoy in life," you say.
I hear this one a lot and it drives my crazy. So let me be clear.
What is sacrifice? Sacrifice means, giving something up of greater value,
for something of lower value.
What can be of greater value than taking charge of your life?
Think about it for a moment. Turning the TV off two hours early to go work
on your business, which in turn will bring you prosperity and choices in
life, is of lower value... is a sacrifice?
The only way to break an old habit is to start a new one.
You have a choice. It's up to you. You want to become financially
independent, you have to move yourself from category two or three to
category one.
