PAY YOURSELF FIRST

"The only thing money gives you is the freedom of not worrying about money."
-- Johnny Carson

On a typical day you go to the office at 9 o'clock and the first three hours of your income are taken out of your check for taxes.  So you end up not making any money until noon.

Then most people work until 2 o'clock to pay their landlord and until 3 o'clock to pay a credit card bill and the list goes on.  That little daily list was recited by David Bach who is a regular on Oprah."  He firmly believes you have to pay yourself first if you want to wind up rich.

Putting money aside for a rainy day is by no means a new idea.  It is practiced by many millionaires and it has been considered to be the golden rule of fianc.

It really amazes me to see books from the early 1900s continue to remain relevant today.  Clothing styles come and go but here's proof that books can withstand the test of time

"The Richest Man in Babylon," by George Clayson is a book I have always liked and it's one of the classics that is still relevant today.  Many millionaires have credited the book's principles for helping them create large fortunes, some in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

"The Richest Man in Babylon" gives out financial advice using a collection of parables set in ancient Babylon.  One of the main points is so simple you will probably laugh when you read it.

Save a dime out of every dollar. That is all it takes to start building your fortune. Why not give it a try?  Just save one tenth of everything you earn, and you can even put your savings to work (in investments that aren't too risky) so that your money will earn more money.
